Brief Posting Description

Ensures safe operation of facility cranes within capacity and operational constraints, and efficient utilisation of deck space. Operational checks and front line maintenance of facility cranes.

Operates the cranes by loading and unloading all types of material and equipment from Supply Vessels in accordance with specific lifting procedures. Transports under special circumstances (bad weather conditions) personnel by basket from mains platforms to boats and vice versa. Includes following up on movement of material between the different locations on the facility to ensure they are placed at the right destinations.

Carries out all lifting operations in accordance to safety rules and company regulations. Provides overall oversight of lifting operations, lift plans and reviews.

Detailed Description

Responsibilities for Bosun:

· Inspection and proper storage of slings and related lift and rigging equipment.

· General maintenance activities as directed by the proper Authority.

· Assist in Helicopter operations as required.

· Ensuring all relevant mechanical equipment is fully operational, in service, maintained safely, effectively, and in accordance with relevant procedures.

· Compilation of accurate reports of any work or incidents affecting mechanical equipment.

· Plan and organize the work activity of their discipline technicians such that all planned and unplanned work is progressed to a satisfactory completion, in a safe and efficient manner. To this end the use of all available planning tools is vital.

· Liaison with other maintenance, cargo and production personnel to ensure all work is coordinated, and within production considerations.

· To ensure cargo activities and equipment are fully operational and critically maintained in accordance with procedures.

· To provide quality information for the maintenance database, such that the information contained is technically valid, accurate and up to date. This includes the correct closing out of Work Orders ensuring they are completed within the correct timeframe and the work carried out in them is detailed as per SAP requirements in line with the SAP data quality input standards.

· Manage and identify all consumables and spares for discipline to ensure that work can be expedited when the equipment arrives on board.

· Advise on technical issues related to the platform equipment, such that effective decisions can be made. Also to liaise with the Onshore Technical Support as required.

· Ensuring a safe place of work by complying with Permit to Work (PTW) system and safe working procedure(s).

Responsibilities for Crane Driver :

· Assist with the activities as they relate to cargo handling, loading, and unloading to include, but not limited to Loading/offloading of crude oil, crude washing tank, tank cleaning, freight, and maintenance of related equipment.

· Carry out general inspection of cranes prior to operating them. Includes checking condition of wire ropes, brake system, bolts, pins and similar items and reports any potential defect or malfunction to Logistic Supervisor.

· Assist maintenance crews when carrying out works on cranes. Includes repositioning crane arm, lowering or lifting pulley, testing equipment, etc., as instructed by maintenance crew.

· Perform other similar or related duties such as carrying out Rigger’s duties helping other areas.

General Duties for Both :

· Assist in Helicopter operations as required.

· Works according to Standing Instructions to Helicopter Operations.

· Participate in Process Safety Management activities that involve process design, process technology, operational and maintenance activities and procedures, non-routine activities and procedures, emergency preparedness plans and procedures, training programs, and other elements which could impact the process.

· Ensure all JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis) are reviewed and understood and all associated paperwork is satisfactorily completed to permit and Quality Assurance requirements.

· Liaise with the Onshore Technical Support as required.

· Ensuring a safe place of work by complying with Permit to Work (PTW) system and safe working procedure(s).

· Provide OJT (On-the-Job Training) for less experienced team members so they are fully supported in their assigned tasks and perform competency assessment assurance.

· Willing member of the emergency response team.

· Maintain a high degree of EHS awareness.

· Be familiar with and follow the Hess Life Saving Rules at all times.

· Actively participate and support all Hess EHS plans, initiatives and improvements.

Job Requirements

· Minimum of 5 years active experience in similar role in a marine environment.

· Minimum of 2 years active experience in helicopter operations as HDA.

· Valid Crane Operators and Rigging Certification.

· VHF Marine/Helicopter Certificate.

· Valid Rigging Certification.

· FPSO experience (desirable).

· Proven and recognised/certified operational experience of crane operation in a marine environment – Vessel to vessel, fixed asset to vessel (and vice-versa) and deck movements across normal and adverse weather conditions.

· Operational safety and maintenance knowledge of cranes and lifting, rigging and platform equipment.

· Knowledge of deck loading capacities, process equipment layout and other operational constraint that impact safe lifting operations.

· Ability to assess and report on crane operational effectiveness.

· Experience in reporting of defects and faults relating to mechanical equipment.

· Capable of providing technical input into practicality of routine and high risk lifting plans.

· Communication skills to promote safe lifting and deck operations.

· Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.

· Ability to plan and manage cargo activities, materials and relevant personnel.
